Japan and South Korea have been successful in popularizing mobile payments, with Europe beginning to reach saturation. As usual, America lags behind a bit in technology, waiting for the right moment and watching progress in other countries.
But guess what? Three U.S. cities (Austin, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City) have been chosen as pilot cities for smartphone payment systems that could someday replace debit and credit cards. Basically, participants will be able to pay for purchases with the wave of a phone, foregoing the credit card swipe. Read this article to learn more.
